Fiery Sunset, Jasper National Park

A spectacular fiery sunset like this one in the Canadian Rockies is a rare sight. Usually our mountains block out the final colourful rays of the sun and the clouds fade into a peaceful quiet gray before disappearing in the black of night.

However, once in a while something happens up there in the atmosphere and we are treated to sunsets that would make a prairie dweller go green with envy.  This image from along the banks of the Athabasca River in Jasper National Park is proof of that.  Taken without any filters, it's a vivid reminder of one of the most dazzling sunsets I have ever seen in the Canadian Rockies.
